Small, 2.5 cm, silver case/box. I have had it at least 50 years and I have never known what it is…

The questioner mentioned:

Little, 2.5 cm, silver scenario/box. I have experienced it at least 50 yrs and I have in no way identified what it is. Achievable hematite inlay on the lid and sides that seems to be worn. Hinge is just a brass loop. Clasp is broken. Small cope with on every facet. Lengthy tale as to how I acquired this detail.

Some of the responses:

  • This appears to be like very close to the similar type and points out what appears like anything you’d set a string by way of, making it wearable… I swear I didn’t just commit 30 minutes obsessed with seeking, haha
  • Snuff or chaw tobacco situation?
  • Appears to be like a Rouge pot.
  • Is it deep ample for a pocket watch mechanicals within? Is it possible that it is 2.5 inches throughout?
  • Tablet box. Perhaps rouge but they weren’t usually this awesome other than professional kinds wherever you could buy little refills.
  • It seems like a classic Indian inlay trinket box. Kind of like this but yours is monochromatic and hinged.
  • It does glimpse like it could have been worn on a wrist. The opposing loops could be for a strap or ribbon. Possibly it held mints or medicine?
  • My title describes the detail. I have carried out an image lookup but I could not discover everything particularly like this point. I was functioning at a car or truck vendor 50 yrs back and an individual observed this in the trunk of a new auto underneath the carpet. It was fully black so I cleaned it up. I was told when it might have been element of a belt but I do not know what place it could be from.
  • A make-up compact most likely? For face powder?
  • Wrist-worn box for sound finger tack/rosin, for anyone who turns a large amount of pages/counts income? My SWAG, anyway.
